Holy Cross Students (10 Days 2014)

Students: In the Dinand Library, what do you like, what WOULD you like, what spaces are lacking (for study, teaching, meeting, presenting), and what services do you think belong in the library? And/or, what do you need to do for academic work that you can’t do now in Dinand spaces?

  1. In Dinand library I would like to see more private study spaces or rooms where students are able to talk to one another at a normal volume. Sometimes as students we want to study or collaborate together without disturbing others, yet there are not many places that provide this need. Thus by creating more private rooms where anybody can go (without no reservation), then students can freely collaborate with one another without any problems.

  2. I would like to see the lab on the 2nd from being opened. I never see it open and I think it is a perfect to place to study at.

  3. Why is the current Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition sitting in the periodical section of the library? How is this possibly in line with our Jesuit values, our emphasis on service and care of the whole person? And why are we allowing the blatant objectification of women in a study area, when numerous empirical studies have shown that internalized self-objectification has detrimental effects on the academic performance of female students? Please remove this magazine.

  4. I hope Dinand Library can have a better and stronger Wi-Fi signal, especially for the lower two floors. Also, I would like Dinand to have more computers for students to print and search.

  5. I’m sure you guys are already working on this but we need to fix the Mac computers on the main floor of Dinand. They haven’t been working consistently for weeks now and it would really help if kids could use them so they don’t have to wait for a computer to open up. There’s also a Dell computer downstairs that hasn’t been working for weeks for some reason when you and try and log in. Overall just try and check and make sure all the computers you have work every now and then, and if they don’t try to fix it when you get the chance. Thanks!
